CSS Page layout basics

This is basically an overview of the different templates in Dreamweaver CS3 that are already available in the start up. These templates would be most beneficial to those whom are using very text heavy websites. As for those websites that are more graphical cutting and slicing in photoshop or fireworks then bringing it over to Dreamweaver and creating your CSS would be best.

Chapter 16

For a second there I thought I’d have to recreate each page in photoshop altering each time before going back and creating the slices necessary to have links. Chapter 16 teaches you to create templates locking in colors, fonts, and style sheets while allowing other portions such as text and images to remain editable.

Chapter7 working with typography

I had already begun creating the website for my final project as well as another for my own use prior to reading this chapter and white space or negative space surrounding the text was definately an issue. Since we had already studied chapter 8 using a table was my solution to everything but after excercise 2 in this chapter I think I have a new solution to this problem. Also, in my project the Company name has a sepecific font that I’ve been having problems getting to show up but I don’t think that’s a problem anymore with my new knowledge of Flash Text.

Grid and Column Designs

What can I say there are 32 great looking websites based on column designs. Editorial sites, blogs you name it, these designs are very well organized and eye catching.

CSS Typography

CSS is the easiest way to improve readability and visual design of a sight with default fonts of Arial, Helvetica, Times, Georgia, Trabuchet, Verdana, and Courier. Without using advances non css techniques your choices for online typography are very limited. When used with caution word spacing and letter spacing can be used to improve readability or add interest to a headline or short section of text.

Week7 design reconstruction

This week I spent the most time on Assignments than I did all semester and it was totally unnecessary. I just recent acquired a new laptop so that I could work on some assignments at work when I have some down time, but there’s no wireless internet at my job so I figured no problem I’ll just print the online assignments from home complete the assignments at work and then put them on line when I get home. Simple problem easy solution… not exactly with this assignment. When I printed the pages all of the images were just black that’s it black. So as I’m trying to follow the step by step instructions the assignment kept referencing back to the image (eg.,draw a solid line under the rectangle as seen in the image) I gave it that ole Army try as long as I could until I just said to heck with it I’ve gotta wait until I get home to do it. Aside from that it was challenging trying to choose an exact font and size to mesh with the entire page. I think I did a good job here’s the link:
